Education: Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), specialty «radiophysics» (1980), 1984 – defended dissertation for the degree of candidate in physico-mathematical sciences at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Career: Co-founder and director general of ScanEx Research and Development Center.
Expert in: Remote sensing systems and their application.
Public/political activities: Member of “GIS-Association”, editor-in-chief of the “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions” magazine, the International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions” organizing committee chairman.
Publications: More than 50 publications: articles, monographs, including “Space-Based Systems for Remote Sensing of the Earth Surface” (S.V. Garbuk, V.E. Gershenzon, Moscow, publishing house “A i B”, 1997), school book “Information Technologies in the Environment Quality Management”, publications in Russian and foreign editions devoted to the Earth observation from space technologies and their application.
Awards: Laureate of the Russian Federation Government Prize for Science and Technology in 1999; Emercom of Russia Prize laureate.
Family: Mother – Inessa Vitalyevna Hanchina (retired), wife – Olga Nikolaevna Gershenzon (co-founder of ScanEx R&D Center), sons – Georgy (1977), Andrey (1981), Ilya (2001).
